Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • 1 cup shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese
  • 4 hamburger buns or rolls

Instructions

  • In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat until cooked through. Drain any excess grease.
  • Add diced onion, bell pepper, and mushrooms to the skillet. Sauté until the vegetables are softened.
  • Stir in ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and beef broth. Let simmer for 5–7 minutes.
  • If needed, dissolve cornstarch in 1 tbsp of water and add to the skillet to thicken the mixture.
  • Stir in shredded cheese until melted and creamy.
  • Toast hamburger buns and spoon the beef mixture onto the buns. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Swap provolone cheese with American or cheddar for a different flavor profile.
  • Add hot sauce for a spicy kick.
  • Use gluten-free buns for a gluten-free option.
