Ingredients

  • 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 4 cups hot water
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Nutmeg for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the sweetened condensed milk and hot water.
  • Beat in the eggs, vanilla extract, and salt until well mixed.
  • Pour the mixture into individual custard cups or a large baking dish.
  • Sprinkle nutmeg on top of each cup or dish.
  • Place the custard cups or dish in a larger baking pan filled with hot water halfway up the sides of the cups/dish.
  • Bake for 45-50 minutes or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use whole milk instead of water.
  • Serve chilled or at room temperature.
  • Garnish with whipped cream or fresh fruit if desired.
