Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil, divided
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup beef broth or water
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 2 tsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ginger, grated
  • Optional: Sesame seeds and green onions for garnish

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, beef broth, oyster sauce, cornstarch, sesame oil, brown sugar, and grated ginger. Set aside.
  • Heat 1 tbsp of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the sliced beef and cook until browned, about 2–3 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
  • Add another 1 tbsp of oil to the skillet. Stir-fry the broccoli for 3–4 minutes until crisp-tender. Remove and set aside.
  • Add the remaining 1 tbsp of oil along with minced garlic. Sauté for 30 seconds, then return the beef and broccoli to the skillet.
  • Pour the sauce over the beef and broccoli, stirring to coat evenly. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  • Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions if desired.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the beef in 2 tbsp of soy sauce and 1 tsp cornstarch for 15 minutes before cooking.
  • Substitute chicken or tofu for beef for a variation.
  • Broccoli can be blanched before stir-frying for a brighter color and tender texture.
