Big Apple Fritters are a delicious deep-fried pastry filled with fresh apples and warm spices, coated in a sweet glaze. Perfect for breakfast, dessert, or a sweet snack, these homemade fritters are crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and bursting with apple flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups diced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • Vegetable oil for frying

For the Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  • In another bowl, whisk eggs, milk, vanilla, and melted butter. Pour into the dry ingredients and mix until combined.
  • Fold in the diced apples.
  • Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
  • Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  • Remove and drain on paper towels.
  • In a small bowl, mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to make the glaze.
  • Drizzle glaze over warm fritters and serve.

Notes

  • Use firm apples like Granny Smith for the best texture.
  • Ensure the oil temperature stays at 350°F for even frying.
  • Serve warm for the best taste.
