This Cheesy Hot Beef Sandwich recipe features tender roast beef, gooey melted cheese, and toasted hoagie rolls for a satisfying and quick lunch or dinner. Packed with savory flavors, this classic comfort food is perfect for family meals or game day eats.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb thinly sliced roast beef (deli-style or homemade)
  • 4 hoagie rolls or sandwich buns
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or provolone cheese
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • Optional toppings: sautéed onions, bell peppers, or pickles

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F.
  • In a skillet, heat beef broth and Worcestershire sauce over medium heat. Add sliced roast beef and simmer for 3-4 minutes to warm the beef.
  • In a small bowl, mix softened butter with garlic powder. Spread the garlic butter onto the cut sides of the hoagie rolls.
  • Place the rolls on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for 3-5 minutes until slightly golden.
  • Spread mayonnaise and Dijon mustard on the toasted rolls.
  • Layer the warm roast beef onto the rolls, then top with shredded cheese.
  • Return the sandwiches to the oven and bake for another 5 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted.
  • Remove from the oven, top with optional sautéed onions, peppers, or pickles, and serve hot.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, use a mix of mozzarella and cheddar cheese.
  • To make it a French dip sandwich, serve with a small bowl of au jus made from beef broth for dipping.
  • You can add sliced jalapeños for a spicy kick.
