Easy Beef Lasagna Recipe with savory ground beef, marinara sauce, and creamy ricotta cheese. Perfect for a comforting family dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef: Provides a rich, savory base for the meat sauce.
  • 1 small onion, diced: Adds a sweet and aromatic flavor to the sauce.
  • 2 tablespoons dried oregano: Infuses the dish with a classic Italian herb flavor.
  • ½ teaspoon salt (or to taste): Enhances all the flavors in the dish.
  • ½ teaspoon pepper (or to taste): Adds a hint of spice and depth.
  • 24 ounces marinara sauce (1 jar/680 g): Forms the base of the rich, tangy sauce.
  • 1 cup water: Helps thin the sauce to ensure it cooks the pasta evenly.
  • 15 ounces ricotta cheese: Provides a creamy, rich layer that contrasts with the meat sauce.
  • 2 eggs: Helps bind the ricotta mixture, giving it structure.
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese: Adds a salty, nutty flavor to the cheese layer.
  • 12 lasagna noodles: Forms the pasta layers that hold everything together.
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese: Melts into a gooey, delicious topping.

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Cook the ground beef and diced onion in a large skillet over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onion is soft.
  • Add dried oregano, salt, pepper, marinara sauce, and water to the skillet. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  • In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, eggs, and grated Parmesan cheese until well combined.
  • Spread a layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • Layer 4 lasagna noodles over the sauce, spread 1/3 of the ricotta mixture, then 1/3 of the mozzarella cheese.
  • Repeat layers twice more, ending with mozzarella cheese on top.
  • Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 25 minutes until cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
  • Let the lasagna rest for 15 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey for a leaner option.
  • Add a layer of spinach for extra vegetables and nutrients.
  • Make ahead and refrigerate overnight for better flavor.
