  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Brown the ground beef with the onion in a skillet over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, salt, and pepper.
  4. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, followed by half of the beef mixture.
  5. Pour half of the soup mixture over the layers and sprinkle with half the cheese.
  6. Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.
  7. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 60 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
  8. Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a pinch of garlic powder or smoked paprika to the beef mixture. You can also swap out the cheddar cheese for a different variety like mozzarella or Colby Jack.
