Scale
  • 1 loaf of French bread, cubed

  • 6 large eggs

  • 2 cups whole milk

  • ½ cup heavy cream

  • ½ cup granulated sugar

  • ¼ cup brown sugar

  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • ½ tsp nutmeg

  • ¼ tsp salt

Topping:

  • ½ cup brown sugar

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

  • Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish and place cubed bread inside.

  • In a bowl, whisk eggs, milk, cream, sugars, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.

  • Pour the mixture over the bread, ensuring all pieces are coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.

  • Serve warm with syrup, powdered sugar, or fresh fruit.

Notes

  • Use day-old bread for the best texture.
