Judy's Strawberry Pretzel Salad is a beloved layered dessert combining a salty pretzel crust, a sweet cream cheese filling, and a strawberry Jell-O topping with fresh strawberries. Perfect for potlucks, picnics, and holiday dinners, this classic Southern dish is both nostalgic and crowd-pleasing.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the crust:

    • 2 cups crushed pretzels

    • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

    • 3 tbsp granulated sugar

  • For the cream cheese layer:

    • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened

    • 1 cup granulated sugar

    • 1 (8 oz) container whipped topping (Cool Whip), thawed

  • For the strawberry topping:

    • 1 (6 oz) package strawberry Jell-O

    • 2 cups boiling water

    • 2 cups sliced fresh strawberries

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. In a bowl, mix crushed pretzels, melted butter, and sugar. Press into the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish.

  3. Bake crust for 10 minutes. Let cool completely.

  4. Beat cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Fold in whipped topping. Spread evenly over cooled crust. Chill for 30 minutes.

  5. Dissolve strawberry Jell-O in boiling water. Let cool to room temperature. Stir in sliced strawberries.

  6. Pour strawberry mixture over cream layer. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until set.

  7. Slice and serve chilled.

Notes

  • Make sure the cream layer fully covers the crust to prevent sogginess.

  • Fresh strawberries work best, but you can use frozen (thawed and drained).

  • Can be made a day ahead.
