Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 cup ketchup (for topping)
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a loaf pan or line with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, eggs, onion, garlic, Italian seasoning, paprika, milk, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  • Divide the meat mixture in half. Press one half into the loaf pan, creating a well in the center.
  • Fill the well with shredded mozzarella cheese, ensuring it stays in the center.
  • Top with the remaining meat mixture, sealing the edges to fully enclose the cheese.
  • Spread ketchup evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
  • Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  • Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Use freshly grated mozzarella for the best melt and flavor.
  • Substitute breadcrumbs with crushed crackers or panko for a crunchier texture.
  • Pair with mashed potatoes or a side salad for a complete meal.
