This old-fashioned goulash recipe is a classic comfort dish made with ground beef, tomatoes, macaroni, and flavorful seasonings. It’s an easy, one-pot meal perfect for busy weeknights and packed with rich, savory flavors the whole family will love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup elbow macaroni
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Instructions

  • In a large skillet or pot, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  • Add chopped onion and garlic; sauté until softened.
  • Stir in tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, beef broth, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and paprika. Bring to a simmer.
  • Add uncooked elbow macaroni and stir well. Cover and cook for 12-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender.
  • If desired, stir in shredded cheese before serving.

Notes

  • Use ground turkey instead of beef for a leaner option.
  • Add bell peppers or mushrooms for extra flavor.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
