Made with ground beef, beans, tomatoes, and a blend of spices, this stovetop chili delivers bold flavors in just 30 minutes. Ideal for busy weeknights, this simple yet satisfying dish will be a family favorite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1 cup water
  • Optional toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped cilantro

Instructions

  • In a large pot, brown the ground beef over medium heat, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain excess fat.
  • Add diced onion and garlic to the beef and sauté until softened, about 3 minutes.
  • Stir in the chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper, and cook for 1 minute to release flavors.
  • Add the diced tomatoes, kidney beans, and water. Stir to combine.
  • Bring the chili to a simmer, reduce the heat to low, and let it cook for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve with your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • Adjust the spiciness by adding more or less chili powder.
  • For a thicker chili, simmer uncovered for an additional 5-10 minutes.
  • Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
