  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 2 tsp strawberry extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • Red or pink food coloring (optional)
  • 20-24 chocolate kisses, unwrapped

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, beat butter, sugar, and salt until creamy.
  • Mix in egg yolk and strawberry extract. Add food coloring if desired.
  • Gradually add flour, mixing until dough forms.
  • Scoop dough into 1-inch balls and place on prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are set but cookies remain soft.
  • Immediately press a chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie after removing from the oven.
  • Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
