  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional: garlic powder, paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet, cook ground beef and onion over medium heat until beef is browned. Drain excess grease.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together cream of mushroom soup and milk.
  4. In a greased casserole dish, layer half the sliced potatoes, followed by half the ground beef, and a sprinkle of cheese. Repeat layers.
  5. Pour the soup mixture evenly over the layers, spreading it with a spatula.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until potatoes are tender.
  7. Remove foil, top with remaining cheese, and bake for another 10 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
