Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz spaghetti or fettuccine
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 tsp salt (or to taste)
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Cook pasta in a large pot of salted boiling water until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup pasta water, then drain.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a simmer, stirring frequently. Cook for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  • Stir in Parmesan cheese, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
  • Add the cooked pasta to the skillet, tossing to coat in the creamy sauce. Use reserved pasta water to adjust the consistency if needed.
  • Remove from heat, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Add grilled chicken or shrimp for a protein boost.
  • For a lighter option, substitute heavy cream with half-and-half or milk.
  • Use whole wheat or gluten-free pasta for dietary preferences.
